BSNL has stopped EVDO and NIC data card booking from last one month. Myself and lot of other EVDO lovers still waiting for the booking to restart. This is more important and awaiting because new EVDO promotional offer rolling out countrywide on BSNL website offering EVDO card @750/month. This is cheapest price bsnl offering in comparison to other telecoms companies. You can expect this kind of things only with BSNL. This is how Sarkari system works. New promotional offer advertisement giving out in media but billing system no longer works from a month. Moreover, promotional offer time is ending on 31st March. It seems new system not going to work soon so nobody will be able to take advantage of this offer.

According to BSNL representative, their new DOT Software system stopped working in the first week of Feb and they have no information on when new system working again. Also, new billing software has lot of issues in billing and booking system. Myself received previous month bill two times with extended charges. It seems new system adopted without proper quality testing by authorities. BSNL employee don’t care what is happening.

Don’t experiment anything if your connection running smoothly and you don’t have specific need. Let me explain why!

There are two incidence happened with me that i never expected. You can not expect this kind of issue with a professional company.

1) I am using BSNL broadband from last 3 years and more. The  reason is i don’t have any alternative in my area. For a year, i used broadband 550 plan and quiet happy with speed and everything. After a year, i feel to change broadband 550 plan to unlimited broadband 999 (Now 750/-) plan due to large volume usage. I reached to BSNL office and give them written application for the change of plan. After one week of application submission my connection stopped working. Initially  i thought there may be a issue with DNS or temporarily server problem. Second day i called customer care and they suggest me to inquire on BSNL new market head office. I reached there and head office representative said to inquire on our area exchange office. Again, i reached my area exchange office but there were only blank chairs saying me why you came here, No body here to attend you. After three visits, i met with my local area office head and what he said was really surprising for me and may be for you too. My connection was cut. They presented me broadband termination order they received from head office. I matched termination order date with the plan change receipt i had. The dates were same. This was simply means they had released connection termination order in place of plan change order. After one week mental and physical practice i got why my connection stopped working and next one week to reconnect my connection. Till date my BSNL bills was paid and i have no due to pay BSNL. How i managed to reconnect my connection is another story. It’s much to learn how  BSNL works.

2) In Jan 2009, they launched new broadband scheme 799 that allow unlimited free calls on BSNL mobile and landline network. I finally decided to take advantage of this offer and again did a blunder mistake. After plan change i received next month bill just doubled. In inquiry, account department said they charged one month price as security deposit. My connection was booked without security deposit and without modem purchase or modem rental under a promotional scheme when i booked my connection 3 years back. The account person said, when plan change or system see any activity in account their software treat account holder as new account holder and add one month plan charge as security deposit in bill if security deposit not already paid by account holder. This is how their system works. After, three years they are charging a loyel customer security deposit even my connection was booked without security deposit. The story not stopped here. As i said, I never paid for modem till now because BSNL were giving modem free of cost at the time of my booking. Let’s see what happen.

You may find lower image resolution in the Opera 10 or newer version. First time i thought its just image loading issue and will fix over time but this was not the case. How to Fix

Follow steps below to turn off opera turbo mode

• Click on bottom left turbo icon and select Configure Opera Turbo
• Select Turn off turbo and click on to implement change.
  
• Now refresh page. Image should load properly after disabling turbo mode. You can also choose automatic mode that allow opera to determine where to on/off turbo mode depend on network.

Firefox has three identified security loop holes known as MSFA 2010-01, 2010-02 and 2010-03 in the 3.5.x and 3.0.x Firefox browser versions. These security flaws involve memory related errors which can allow hackers to run any command on a victim computer. Other two flaws related to cross-site scripting attacks.

Mozilla Firefox has released security patches for these security flaws. Released patches are for Firefox 3.5.x and 3.0.x series. Firefox have included patch for these flaws in Firefox 3.6 series so users who are running Firefox 3.6 need not to install patches for these vulnerabilities. Users who are running Firefox 3.5.x or 3.0.x series must upgrade to 3.6 version or install patch separately in order to protect their PC from possible attacks.

I recently encounter this issue on my client wordpress mu blog.  When i open main blog page after installation an infinite loop occur and stop at dead end in Firefox. I searched a lot about this on wordpress forum. Surprising, issue is stated everywhere in the forums and blog but no solution was suggested.

Why Redirect Loop?

The issue arise because database was not created during wordpress installation but word press config file was written. WordPress uses wp-config.php file to store database configuration.  If WordPress find this file in the  installation directory then no further installation procedure begin. WordPress now look at DB to load default blog but there is no table in the database. Again, control goes to install procedure but WordPress understand blog already installed because WordPress config file is present in root folder. Once again WordPress try to load blog from database and redirect loop occur.  I hope WordPress guys will fix this in future releases.

The Fix

The fix is very simple. Simply, rename or delete WordPress config file and re-install wordpress mu.  Make sure database user you are using during installation have sufficient permission to create and manipulate database tables.

i just login today on the Facebook and find new look of the profile page. New profile page is optional, after login you will receive “Try new Facebook” option to load new theme. Not sure this option is only available first time or every time i login until Facebook developer replace old profile page with new profile page. The new profile page look like similar to new other social network platform like Myspace. Facebook known to its simpler interface and people really enjoy the simplicity. There are several different view about the new look. Some users says, old profile page was good becuase most of the stuff was exist on one page but now new tab introduced and stuff move to a new tab that open a new page.? It look like new look not finalized yet.? We might see some new changes in new future.

I just received “Not Acceptable Error while i tried to edit post in Word Press 2.5. Earlier, It was working fine but in the previous post i get annoying error when i tried to save and continue my article. But soon i realize cause of the error. Again, the error was due to apache web server mod-security rules SecFilterEngine On. The exact text of the error is “Error 406, Not Acceptable. An appropriate representation of the requested resource /wp-admin/post.php could not be found on this server.”

Here is the quick fix the error:

1. Download .htaccess file from your root directory or create one if not exist.
2. Add following Line in .htaccess file.
3. <IfModule mod_security.c>
   <Files post.php>
   SecFilterEngine Off
   SecFilterScanPOST Off
   </Files>
   </IfModule>
4. If <IfModule mod_security.c> line already in your .htaccess file then place only <Files..></Files> block inside if module block.
5. Save file and upload file to your host root directory.
6. All done..

PHP compiler generate fatal error if you use function return value in read/write context. Although this is not applicable for all PHP supported function but PHP function like empty does not support use of the function in this way. In other words, php empty function cannot check the return value of a function or method. It can only check variables so use only variable inside empty function. Any other function or expression inside empty function will lead to generate fatal error.

If you are using Alex popularity plug-in then you might face this error while upgrading plug-in automatically in WP 2.5. This error generate due to invalid wp-header file path in plug-in file. Unfortunately, Alex not released new fixed version of the this popular plug-in. However, fix is really very simple and anyone can fix issue just by editing one single plug-in file. Please follow steps below to fix this error in your installation:

1. Deactivate older version of the plugin. If you are installing first time skip this step.
2. Download the latest release from wordpress.org or plugin author website.
3. Open popularity-contest.php in your favorite editor and scroll down to line 59. Replace
   

   require('../../wp-blog-header.php');

   with

   require('../wp-blog-header.php');

4. Save file and upload file to your plugins folder.
5. Reactivate the plugin

Two vulnerabilities has been discoverd in CubeCart 4.xx by Russ McRee that can be use by hackers to exploit website by cross-site scripting attacks. The search input string is not properly sanitised before passed to script for execution. This behaviour can be used by attacker to execute malicious script code in the browser to affect website. This may allow to hacker to acess administration by stealing cookies-based aunthentication scheme and destroy website.

Solution:

CubeCart has been released security patch to fix this problem that can be download from following location.

• CubeCart_4.1.1_pl1.zip
• CubeCart_4.2.1_pl1.zip

Also, CubeCart user can fix this manually by editing a single file. Please follow steps described below:

Open ini.inc.php and find at around line 134:
