Wordpress.TV – New Addition to Wordpress Family

Wordpress announced new Wordpress.TV where you can find all wordpress resources in audio visual form. You can find all WordCamp video, slideshows of presentation created by wordpress team and other wordpress experts, and interviews with media and fellow bloggers.

Wordpress.TV included several handy how-to tutorial video and more be in pipeline in future. You can request to add an audio visual resource if you find should be added on wordpress.tv.? I can also request if something missing and should be on site for wordpress community. Below is introductory video showing brief overview of the site.

PNG Files Transparency Problem(Grey Color) in Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer below 7.0 does not support 24-bit alpha channel transparent PNG images. PNG image background turn into gray color rather then transparent. IE version 7 and above completely solved this issue and fully support PNG images.? Other modern browser such as Firefox, Opera, Flock support png images from start.

How to Fix:

Use transparent gif file instead of PNG file.
Avoid direct use of images for transparent PNG file. Use Microsoft AlphaImageLoader filter, as described below:

Download pngfix javascript pngfix file. Extract zip file and upload on your webserver. This .JS file uses same concept as in second point to render PNG images.
Include js file within section like below.? Replace “your file path” with actual file path before upload.

Save the document and upload to server. This fix apply to all PNG images automatically in Internet Explorer. Other browser simply ignore this.

Create JavaScript Confirm Box for Record Deletion

Confirmation before deletion of record is very useful to preserve data from accidental record deletion. With confirmation process will be in two steps. Here is the javascript way to ask user whether they want to delete record or not.

Delete

You can see above example. The method is very easy.? if you click OK.. then function will return true and browser navigate href URL otherwise false value will be return and your click will not work.

You can achieve same functionality by wraping above method in a function.

Google Chrome – New Clean Web Browser

I am fan of Safari for clean and minimal design that allow faster web browsing experience then opera, firefox and IE. Just found Google Chrome browser that look like similar to safari in terms of its minimal design. The blue theme is simple stylish and clean just like GTalk. There is no Linux version is released yet, Google guy still working on Mac and Linux version. Hope, mac and Linux geeks will get these versions soon. They have used Apple’s WebKit and Mozilla’s Firefox components and the code is open source to collaborate with web commun ity.

Wordpress 406 Not Acceptable Error Fix

I just received “Not Acceptable Error while i tried to edit post in Word Press 2.5. Earlier, It was working fine but in the previous post i get annoying error when i tried to save and continue my article. But soon i realize cause of the error. Again, the error was due to apache web server mod-security rules SecFilterEngine On. The exact text of the error is “Error 406, Not Acceptable. An appropriate representation of the requested resource /wp-admin/post.php could not be found on this server.�

Here is the quick fix the error:

Download .htaccess file from your root directory or create one if not exist.
Add following Line in .htaccess file.
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
If line already in your .htaccess file then place only block inside if module block.
Save file and upload file to your host root directory.
All done..

Pros:

I would like to comment about their affliated program here. I had joined their affliated program in May at the time when i wrote this post. but after five month i have only five ready to pay signup. sometime it was around 15 signups and i am not sure how many times i reached to this extent. They have min $100 payout that never complete. I feel that they have setup a system that automatically decrease ready to pay signups or declare some registration false when you reach near to 20 signups (eq: $100). I had contacted their support but i did not received any reply. I suggest you all to use only industry leading affiliated program like commission junction if you really want transparency in the payout.

Round Corner Border with CSS without image

A lot of investigation on CSS and finally i came to the point that at this time round curve border with CSS not possible. We have to use image for round curve effect. However, According to W3C CSS3.0 specification it will be possible in near future with border-radius? property. CSS3.0 still in draft status so this property not compatible with available browser this time.

Visual Basic Data Types

There are 11 data types in Visual Basic 6. These are Boolean, Byte, Currency, Date, Double, Integer, Long, Object, Single, String, and Variant. Each of these data types have their own purpose. I am describing here all data type:

Boolean
The Boolean data type has only two states, True and False. These types of variables are stored as 16-bit (2 Byte) numbers, and are usually used for flags.

Byte
The Byte data type is an 8-bit variable which can store value from 0 to 255. This data type is very useful for storing binary data. It can also be very useful when sending/receiving byte values.

Double
The Double data type is a 64-bit floating point number used when high accuracy is needed. These variables can range from -1.79769313486232e308 to -4.94065645841247e-324 for negative values and from 4.94065645841247e-324 to 1.79769313486232e308 for positive values.

Integer
The Integer data type is a 16-bit number which can range from -32768 to 32767. Integers should be used when you are working with values that can not contain fractional numbers.

Long
The Long data type is a 32-bit number which can range from -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647. Long variables can only contain non-fractional integer values. I myself use Long variables over Integers for increased performance. Most Win32 functions use this data type for this reason.

Single
The Single data type is a 32-bit number ranging from -3.402823e38 to -1.401298e-45 for negative values and from 1.401298e-45 to 3.402823e38 for positive values. This data type is to use when you need fractional numbers within this range.

String
The String data type is usually used as a variable-length type of variable. A variable-length string can contain up to approximately 2 billion characters. Each character has a value ranging from 0 to 255 based on the ASCII character set. Strings are used when Text is involved.
